Superior wireless protocol
-
Implementing a sensor solution involving hundreds of sensors used to be a nightmare - relying upon local wireless technologies – with ranges of 50-100 feet. Technologies like WiFi, Bluetooth, Zigbee and Z-wave required the installation of many local gateways (several per floor) throughout the building, and also demanded complicated pairing and provisioning of sensors.
-
With Aware Building’s adoption of LoRaWAN, it is now possible to deploy entire buildings with only a few gateways, and sensors that require nothing more than simply being turned on.

-
Devices are not paired and can communicate with any gateway.
-
In the event one gateway goes offline, the sensors previously connected to that gateway will automatically reconnect with the next best gateway option i.e. the gateway with which they have the best connection.
Non-pairing.
Centrally managed and scalable.
-
A client will have the ability to view sensor and device status 24/7/365.
-
All sensors report immediately in the event of a wet condition; sensors also report into the system every hour to indicate status including temperature, humidity, battery level, and signal strength with the gateway.
-
Leak detection clients receive a daily digest report indicating alerts that occurred over the past 24 hours as well as any action items including sensors not reporting, sensors with poor data packet throughput, sensors with low batteries, and any sensors requiring alerts.
-
The LoRaWAN protocol allows sensors to connect to gateways over exceptionally long distances and allows the LoRa network to be deployed in minimal locations throughout the building, at a relatively low cost and very quickly compared to other technologies.
-
Once the network is in place, sensors can be deployed anywhere needed and can be reassigned/ moved around as required by the client. We provide access to an app as well as a mobile-enabled website to facilitate the process of naming/ renaming.
-
A client with a whole-building LoRa network deployed generally will have the ability to deploy up to several thousand sensors if ever required by the building; the client can usually deploy as many sensors as required, wherever required.
-
You also have the option to add additional sensor solutions at any time, within your LoRa coverage area, with no changes required to your network.
Battery Life
-
Aware's sensors are powered off standard AA batteries.
-
By optimizing adaptive rate technology. Sensors will automatically "dial-up" or "dial down" their signal strength to ensure a robust connection to the best available gateway, while simultaneously preserving power. This is why Aware is able to guarantee 4 years of sensor battery life for Aware sensors but typically sees battery lifes of 10 years.
Redundancy
-
The system is resilient and designed to operate at scale with minimal intervention.
-
In the event of a power and/ or internet outage, gateways can be configured to fail over to a battery backup and GSM/ cellular.
-
In the event all gateways go offline, as soon as they come back online all sensors will reconnect to the gateway with which they have the best connection, with no intervention required.
-
Devices are not paired and can communicate with any gateway.
-
In the event one gateway goes offline, the sensors previously connected to that gateway will automatically reconnect with the next best gateway option i.e. the gateway with which they have the best connection.
-
You also have the option to receive an automated notification in the event any network devices go offline. Again, these failover mechanisms will occur with no intervention required.
Testing
-
These devices will be used to test the sensor range in your building, and will give us a general idea of how many gateways will be needed in a permanent deployment, and at what distance from each other.
-
It’s a very easy test to run, and usually takes around 30 minutes.
Flexible and powerful
alerting rules & channels.
Multiple alerting options.

Aware's annunciator.
Your staff's on site call center
The annunciator, often placed in the lobby, makes voice announcements of your alerts to staff on duty.
It's like having a call center / answering service sitting right on the shoulder of your on site staff or Engineer. You can't get any better than that!
Flexible and powerful alerting rules & channels
Aware allows for alerts to be transmitted
to any staff members via any four ways:
Text, email, phone call, or Aware's Annunciator.

Non-pairing.
With Aware Building’s adoption of LoRaWAN, it is now possible to deploy entire buildings with only a few gateways, and sensors that require nothing more than simply being turned on.

Sensors do not need to be paired with
resident's smart-home hubs. Aware's sensors automatically communicate
with the common area gateways placed throughout the building. Sensors may even be picked up by multiple gateways providing an added layer of
reliability.
